A slow-burn study of a toll booth attendant’s humdrum life takes on poetic dimensions in this extraordinary film from Turkey – TOLL BOOTH (2010), written and directed by Tolga Karacelik. Its gentle pace, eloquent cinematography and performance by lead actor Sercan Ercan raise the film several notches beyond its immediate setting and plot and generate a cinematic language that enriches our viewing experience.
