Despite having an open marriage, Vic (Ben Affleck) is jealous of his wife’s (Ana de Armas) affairs. As a series of mysterious disappearances and deaths occur in the town – all presumably lovers of his wife, suspicion falls on Vic. The cause for this is Vic himself when he tells his wife’s latest lover that he had killed her previous lover – and the news spreads fast in the small town in which the film is set. Adrian Lyne’s DEEP WATER (2022) is not a murder mystery but a deep study of a complex relationship and all that it entails – love, jealousy and power play. And when you learn that the film is based on a 1957 novel of the same name by Patricia Highsmith, there is no way you can give it a miss.
